marstar, ALWAYS SOLD OUT

GUNSLINGER;
"Yup, the remainder of the time it's a run around and very frustrating getting any answers from them, not exactly what I call confidence inspiring. "

As I just explained in the previous reply, once we introduce the new site with all the bells and whistles we should eliminate most of the isssues, however it will also cut down on the number of things one can complain about so I guess someone will likely complain about that ?

You took it out of context...it doesn't impact me in the least...I have nothing against your business or the way you run it. I've bought from you and have been pleased with the service. I (and this is me) really dislike Facebook and won't go there to find out info. I understand that many spend endless amounts of time on that social site and all the power to those that like that but I'm not one of them. It's been my assumption that your Facebook page updates quicker than your website...this isn't from personal observation (as I don't go to Facebook) but rather from information gathered from other CGN'ers who've posted about updates found on your FB page that wasn't found on your website.

I understand that having a FB presence is advantageous for a business (and I wish you well with it) but it would be nice if us other non-FB guys could access the info also (think of it like having email and the phone for getting the info).

"marstar is a good company to buy from but any items that they seem to sell a lot of they only have a few on stock and they sell quick and it takes them many months to get new stock back in. "

Very good point, for example we received 2,500,000 rds of 7.62x25 three weeks ago,
we have less than 300,000rds left.

Last week we recived a container load of M-305s, because of delays getting the shipment, we have barely enough to fill our pre-orders.

Are these events our fault ? Of course not, we are simply doing our best to make our customers happy, well at least some of them....

OLYMPIA;
"Is it just me or is all the stuff I want always soldout on the marstar website? "

We have over 2000 pages on our website, we have thousands of firearms in stock, millions of rounds of ammunition, a warehouse full of accessories.... We do our best....

Please take a moment to read my previous postings....We will have more features on the new site....

"Yes, but then John will take that personally and go on a long rant."

Ok I will keep this really short, NO rant,

"John should spend less time attacking CGNers who make valid criticisms about the site, and more time changing the text on the website so it's accurate and the complaints would go away."

A perfect example of constructive comments.... You offer a critique, do you take the time to offer make suggestions ? Of course not.... Exactly what do you suggest ?

"Then again, John is also an old-school fella in a new-school world. It can be a steep learning curve. He's hired the right people to get the site running the way you guys want it to. Give it time."

Your statements are quite to the point.... I am of the "old schoool", I beleive in fair deals at fair prices, I introduced No BS warranty policies to Canada, I introduced be best wack up to sales in Canada, we insist on customer respect........
There are very few of us "old school" guys around that can say 27 years in the same business....

Yes we have begun installing our new server, new software, introducing new layouts, new interactive services, just to name a few of the changes....

Thank you for your understanding and patience
John

Keep up the good work John!!! Some people are NEVER happy...9/10 people complaining that certain items are not in stock are the sameones who complain about the price and do not buy said item(s) when they ARE in stock.

With the right website, and consistent inventory Marstar would be the best in the biz.. IMHO

If I may make a suggestion.. Take things down that will never be in stock again. I have had my heart set on a Norc copy of the FEG Hi-Power clone.
http://www.marstar.ca/gf-norinco/NP-18.shtm
I dont know when it was last in stock. or if it ever will be again.. but there it is for over 2 years out of stock,... teasing me each time I look at it.. LOL

Seriously though John... any chance on the NP-18. And one of those .22 mauser clones.

One thing I learned about the firearms hobby when it comes to surplus or other items of the type Marstar carries. You buy quickly or you miss out! Can't wait for my M-305 to arrive on the door step :)

I'd love to one day buy something from Marstar but unless I can get there in person it'll never happen. The site is unusable.

Does anyone care what they had for sale in 2002? Clean that site up so I can give you my $.

Bought a lot of things from Marstar over the years. Great people, great prices.

....But as others have said, the website needs work... A LOT of work. It's based on mind 90's technology - any high school student from that era could make a website like that using a basic HTML editor.

I couldn't care less about fancy graphics, animations and scripts, but a real time inventory tracking and the ability to place an order online are an absolute must. Even websites of tiny, family-owned businesses have those features these days.
John must be really attached to their webmaster to keep him around for this long.

I can't believe John actually replies to these dickwad comments in a nice, friendly tone.

Kudos to you John

I love the page now, its got a little of everything and lots of usefull information. The Facebook page is the best, how many other suppliers do you see spending the time of making videos of all of the firearms in there inventory just so you the consumer can dream. I have bought many parts and firearms from them and have had nothing but the best service from them. Keep up the good work John and and your staff

John’s like a Ref in a game. There’s no way on this Earth that Marstar is going to please everyone, all of the time. Even though he makes 99% good calls and is able to bring in a #### load of great stuff that we otherwise might never see in Canada … the rest (1%) of stuff like ‘not in stock’ items and the bandwagon fans start the Marstar rant again! If the bunch of whiners out there think they can do a better job then by all means start your own company and run Marstar out of business. I’m sure John welcomes the competition which will only make his business better for the next 27+ years.

On the other hand, if you offer some constructive criticism of what you want to see in their new website, while they’re still building it, then you might be even more pleased when it goes live.

Hey John, don't forget there will still be the 1% that will hate the NEW website after it goes live and complain that they liked the OLD one better and why the h*ll did you change it! :bangHead:
