Marstar has .308 Norinco comming

I think the price is pretty good actually. I had and fired lots of that ammo and it was/is the most consistent surplus stuff around. Wroks well in M-14's and FN's (Tells you the last time I fired the stuff) as was very accurate. At 200m My heavy barrel Savage would easily put 5 rnds in the same hole. Grouping opens up a little once you get past 300m but it would still shoot about 2 min at 300m.
As for the price, the big problem is fuel. The price of fuel will very soon make all products coming from our brothers in the east way more expensive. Watch for Wal-mart and Princess auto prices to reflect these prices very soon.
When do you expect to have this ammo landed and at what price?

I acquired half a case of wolf 308 winchester and out of my 700P Im averaging 1.25" not stellar but for 50 cents a round.......:)

Ya it does

And you think a Salvage would magically shoot s**tty ammo particularly well? You might need to rethink that one Sport...;)

All the crap I've shot thru that Savage including Canadian Ball, South African, Norinco ect has shot really well out of that stupid rifle. Sometimes I don't believe just how well it shoots. I did a test once with a box of that Norinco and a box of 168 grain Sierra BTHP match factory loads. Out at 100m both grouped the same, at 200m the Norinco did slightly under 1 in not 1 min, 1 inch, the 168 did about the same, at 300m the Norinco did 2.2 inches, still under a min and the match did 1.5 in. Now the Norinco cost me, at that time, about $8.00 a box and the match ammo $35.00 a box. For our matches I would have scored exackly the same score with either ammo.

As Brian Hall says, "I'm not saying I'm just saying!

I'll agree its pretty accurate stuff and I always found that it functioned well, however steel cased ammo isn't worth 50 cents a round IMO.

I didn't mean to hurt your feelings John...

LEONIDAS;
My feelings are not hurt, I am simply looking to buy all I can find at your quoted price of $89./1000

Are we done beating this to death yet? :rolleyes:
I would expect a less confrontational response ... well - from pretty much any other dealer actually...:p

FFS he was talking about the past. Did you seriously not understand that from his post? IIRC Norinco X39 was a couple dollars a box 20 years ago, are you gonna pester me to find you some for that price?

PC9;
"How come Norinco 308 can be imported here and no 7.62x39?"
Well now, that question would require several pages to reply....

1) Norinco ammo has increased its prices a lot in the last few years.

2) The port of Vancouver will not permit the unloading of ammunition within the port facilities....

3) It cannot travel via any US port due to the embargo in place.

As a result Norinco ammo has to travel around the world to arrive in Montreal....After obtaining and paying for, transit permits, export permits etc, etc from several countries....

Without giving away anything let me simply say that with today's very high shipping rates it can get very costly indeed.

Norinco 7.62x39 would simply not be competetive with what we currently offer....(Czech ammo)

For distributors who may be interested we do have other stocks offshore and are prepared to make them some VERY interesting offers, similar to what we have done in the US.

I hope I have replied to your question....

Oh my, I did not consider my reply confrontational, but OK I'll engage my gentle, warm and fuzzy key before sending out this post....

C'mon guys, is it only humour when it is sent to me and not vice versa ?

(Gentle key on) Regards John

LEONIDAS;
The problem being that if the ship enters the port facilities in Vancouver with even one container of "explosives" on board they will NOT be permitted to berth.... So it would have to be a ship whose first destination was Prince Rupert

If we could find a ship going to an alternative port then there is the issue of such "dangerous cargo" which most lines won't carry....

Trust me the problems and excuses, are endless....
John

When I asked one of my unoin buddies that works the port why they don't accept explosive cargo he said...
"To many pot heads and criminals work at the port of vancouver thats the real reason why!"
Quote from a man named Micheal from the port of vancouver.

I don't think any less expensive .308 can be found around (in any quantity), so its probably a good deal for someone who can afford to plink with it and who doesn't reload. I always pass on steel cased ammo that costs more than about $200/1000 however, as you can't reload it and it's FMJ so you can't hunt with it, which is a double whammy.
