The !@#$%^&*****()@ BUTCHER who Dremelled the brand new AKM stock and brand new Norc receiver IN THE THREAD POSTED ABOVE to "FIT" them, also told the owner he didn't need the AKM free floated Op Rod Guide pieces ... "the rifle would shoot more accurately without them".
YUP!
If you want 1/2" barrel whip, with ferrule striking sparks at the front end of the stock as it grinds into the alloy .... then this would be the way to go.
More likely, the so called Professional gunsmith who did this work, didn't know how to take off the flashider on a chinese M14, or was just to FFFn stupid or lazy to do the job correctly.
So ... WHILE THE RECEIVER WAS IN THE STOCK ... he also Dremelled the barrel ferrule so that he could cram the receiver and barrel into the AKM stock without removing the ferrule .... !!!
So, to sum up, this paragon of gunsmithing ability dremelled"
A.] the inside of the AKM stock bedding surfaces
B.] the bearing surfaces of the M14s receiver
C.] the bolt release .... oops slipped a bit there I guess
D.] the ferrule that goes around the barrel/gas assembly
E.] the exterior front end of the AKM stock ... oops, slipped a bit ... AGAIN!!
All of this work was done gloriously freehand ... and judging by the workmanship, probably while drunk or stoned on CRACK!
And,
all of this was done totally without reason because the AKM stock I tried slipped on to three different Chinese receivers perfectly.
Others who used the AKM stock have reported a small thin shim at the rear of the receiver might be worthwhile to align some receivers perfectly, and tension the barrel for best accurracy ... but with this modification, expect that your personal mileage may vary.
DREMELSSS!!!!
ARGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!
