Visited Numrich two years ago. Amazing place, it's not one big building but several small ones, located on a small dead end street in West Hurley, which wasn't an easy town to find. We were hoping to pick up some parts that
Numrich would send, but would get stopped at Canada Customs.
The gentleman at the parts counter was very friendly and most helpfull. He was impressed that we would travel all the way from Canada to visit their store. We picked up all the parts we were looking for, and when we mentioned Lee Enfields, he told us that they had some new,(in the grease) barrels for the No 4's. We bought 10 of them ( L.E"s are very popular hunting guns in our neck of the woods) at an excellent price and the man even appologized that the sites were still on them
We brought our booty back to the border and declared it at Customs. The officer there didn't bat an eye, and after paying duty, passed us on. For some odd reason, the Customs people that check the mail, parcels, etc., will stop or hinder gun parts coming in that way, but if you bring it personnaly to the border, the officers there will let you through with it with no problems. Guns and gun receivers are a no no., but everything else is OK. This has happened a couple of times now, so it wasn't a fluke.
From the many dealing we have had with Numrich over the last 25 years or so, we have nothing but high praise for this company and it's staff. it's been my experience that Canadian companies could learn valuably lessions from U.S. companies with regards to fast, friendly, and efficient customer service.
A case in point is Marstar. I find they rarely have what they show as in stock on their web site, delivery times can be terrible (if they remember to send it) and usually requires a phone call to get things moving. My dealings with them have been about 50/50 over the last few years. They really should look at improving their customer service.
