Is it worth it? I know you usually get what you pay for, but I dislike the look (and price) of full rails, and I would like a small scout-style mount for mounting an Aimpoint Micro or Short LER scope.

The part in question. I would love to get my hands on a Springfield scout mount though, if anyone could give me a lead on where to get one of those... (do they even fit the chinese barrel profiles though?)

Yes, I am aware I would need to cut my stock.

Thanks for any help.

Be aware !

Those mounts on the barrel get hot -
The red dots get burned out by barrel heat -

LER scopes are ok though -

Thanks for the info chopper. I was leaning more towards a light scope anyways, as I love the irons for normal shooting.

I just want to add a little magnification for distance shooting, without going for a receiver mount. I'd be using some quick detach rings so I can swap between irons and scope at a whim.

S/A will not fit Norc

I have a Springfield scout mount in my basement that I Dremeled to death. They will not fit a Chinese profile barrel PERIOD. The instructions specifically say that they don't. I figured I'd be able to kitchen gunsmith it Hungry style. I figured that Springfield was just anti- non USGI. Only $$$ down the drain. Buy a UTG rail and have a similar set up that will actually work with the Norc.

Good luck

Barrel profile issue. I reckon after all that dremel work and still no luck, you are probably at the point that bedding the mount with high heat resistance epoxy bed(eg Devcon) might be the solution.

would there be any interest in a mount that replaces the rear sight, I have one now that I have mounted a Leupold tactical prismatic (thx to a very good friend ;) ) and was thinking of having a shop make up a few more. I simply love it...... and even with the leupold T/P on there....... i can still use stripper clips :D :D

I wouldnt mind one , especially considering i dont really use the stripper clip guide .

Im in need of a scope mount soon anyway , deer season is soon coming . might as well be from a board member or sponsor.

I had no problem mounting my SA mount on my Norc. No dremeling or anything. That's weird?

This has always been my dream for a place to put a BUIS but personally I don't think it would be great for optics(except maybe a reflex sight, especially Doktor). This type of sight would be more for CQB but small eye distance may lead to tunnel vision.

That's a brilliant idea. I would be interested:). Would you have a picture by any chance?

no, no pictures, i'm on dial up now hehehehe
this was a recent project that i was toying with while dlask worked on the utg rail extension that i hope they are making as we speak
I'm sending this one off to a different outfit who offered to make it when we spoke last month. with my move and tying up the loose ends from before my move, I haven't had much time to get the ball rolling. when i have something i can be confident to show..... I will. my prototype works excellent and the few that have seen it also expressed keen interest. I'll keep you all posted as this project progresses.

I got a hold of one as well as a Springfield stock and handguard at an excellent price.

The seller told me it fit his Norc just fine, so we'll see when it gets here. I'll probably just sell the Springfield stock as I want to keep my Boyd's Laminate one... I'll have to cut the handguard though :p

What year is your Norc?

Did Norc change barrel profile

I'm very jealous that the S/A rail fit your Norc. What year was it? I tried putting mine on my 1993 built gun and no go. My 2007 is my whitefeather clone. I still have the factory barrel for the 2007. I will try it.

I bought the rail in 2005. I'm not sure when my Norinco was made. I ordered it from Dark International in 2005 also. I took the opportunity to take some pics of my mounting job when I was just cleaning my rifle. Maybe you'll spot something different from it.
