I shoot Yugo milsurp with a slip over butt pad. I know it's not manly, but there it is. Not so bad standing, but more than I can handle off the bench.

Me too. It's not so much for the padding as the extra LOP, I have long arms and need an LOP of over 14" for the most part. Pretty much every milsurp I have shot was built for a short armed midget and was uncomfortable at best due to the short stock.

I had this butt cuff made up for my Garand to stop my thumb from hitting my nose every shot. It adds a much needed 1" of LOP:

Nice idea on that buttpad/extension Mark, i have 2 russian rifles i find a bit on the short side, might have to steal that idea myself, Theres a nice leather shop out the highway that has just the material for something like that.
