Hello,

I know this must have been adressed many times, but then again:D :

Is Mastar's scope mount for the Norinco M 305 worth something ? Is it easy to install and will hold it's zero setting ?

Is there an inexpensive alternative ?

Thanks to everyone

I had one and I didn't have very good luck with it. First off the mounting section wich goes into the stripper clip groove had to be ground down a fair bit to fit. Then the mounting bolt was too long and would contact the bolt when firing resulting in jams, and to top it all off it wasn't sitting square on the reciever.Other folks on here have said they worked out alright for then...maybe I got a lemon?
The other 2 mounts I have are the arms 18 and the springfield gen 2. Once i got spring tension set on the extractor the arms18 is superb(will sometimes. stovepipe brass before this mod because it sits so low). These arn't cheap though. The springfield mount is cheaper but is bulky. I installed mine following the instructions only I didn't use a screw driver as I couldn't see how you could get it tight enough so i wraped the knobs in emery cloth and used a pair of adj pliers and really tightened them on.Its been rock solid.

Works well for me after a little tweaking. I had to file out the knob hole a little bit to get the mount to fit in its reciever groove. I also had to wedge a little metal in the rear of the mount at the stripper guide block to get the mount level. With those two jobs it only took me an hour to mount my scope and has held zero ever since. It mounts the scope fairly low as well so was worth the $100 in my opinion.

I guess you could always ship it to a parcel broker near the border and go pick it up there, and bring it across. That's what I usually do for stuff that won't be shipped to Canada.

good mount , but they will not ship it to Canada.....:(

Seen them on CGN FS all the time. Where I got mine. I got mine from GG&FB.

Does it not get caught by the new (as of November) rules out of the US not to export any M14 parts? Does this count? I imagine that scope mounts, stocks (McMillan, Sage etc) would all fall under parts.

I had to do a lot of fitting to the marstar mount that came in the M-305 package. In the end i wish i had bought a higher quality mount. I had to:

-adjust the side mounting hole to align properly
-buy rings with adjustment for windage to correct for mount being off
-remove material at ejection port to prevent stovepipe jams
-shim rear attachment point so it didn't make the elevation too high (i ran out of adjustment when trying to sight in scope)

I have it working now but I really can not recomment this mount for anyone...
