Hi gang, a friend has given me a 3-12x50 marstar brand scope, has german #4 reticle with iluminated dot in center, has adjustable objective, imactually impressed with its construction and clarity, does anyone have any experiences with this line of optics? and does anyone know who actually manufactures them for marstar, im not sure what they are worth, but they seem like a gd buy

Only reason im asking is that it is my first marstar scope, ive went through 2 scopes already on my rifle, and my buddy was helping me by giving me this one, like i said, it seems very well made, was told they dont manufacture there ow n scopes, that its another manufacture who does, i was just curious s to there durability and who makes them is all, ive dealt with marstar a few times, was always gd

I have dealt with Marstar before and can on say I got a great rifle and a great price and was very happy with their service. I cannot comment on their scope but if it is a leapers or NCstar I would stay away from it I have played with them and they are crap. For me the cost is not an issue. It is all the playing around that you end up doing with the rifle before you decide that the scope is the reason that it will not shoot. The new Redfield are in expensive and work great. Save your self the head ache and buy good glass. But hay it is free and it is sometimes fun to have something to play around with during the winter months

Good luck

I had one of their rubber armored 30mm tube scopes for about two years on my M14 and it worked great. I sold it when I upgraded, but I felt it was a good scope for the money.

I'd buy another, but it seems the model is almost always sold out.

Well ill try the scope in time, ,im waiting for a rifle in the mail, rifle will be a savage model 110 silouette in 308 caliber,i wanted a bitbetter magnification for long distance shooting, on deer and coyotes, ive had another 308 that i went through a few scopes, that didnt pan out, i even killed a leupold rifleman, crosshair fell in it, , so for free i figured its worth a try to try out a marstar brand scope, apparantly its manufactured by leapers, i did call a dealer and he was familiar with the scopes, he said for the money, they work alright

Don't worry the poster wasn't saying you did anything wrong - it was for the posters who would reply later.
As for NcStar, yes they are not Top 'o' the line but I've had good luck with them - when taking the price into consideration!
Good luck!

Any price for an optic that doesn't function properly is too much. There is no "bargain" with Nc Star products and luck should never play into a purchase. Steer clear of low dollar and low quality junk like Nc Star.
