Marstar Stocking AR-15 "Pistol" Mags

And you base this legal advice on what?
The mags are prominently marked "pistol", I wouldn't worry beyond that.

I could stamp 'pistol' on any of my mags
I agree, Prudence is your friend. I'm going to print off the documentation and keep it with my reg. certs.

Do what you want ACrashB. It's just a suggestion. If I had ten round mags that's what I would do. Call it preventative maintenance.

Why is it when a gun owner unkowingly breaks the law they are told that ignorance of the law is not an excuse ......BUT when a LEO does not know the law it is up to the law abiding gun owner to inform them of what is lawful.

First of all this would be considered s a loophole in the law. Clearly it goes against the intent.

Considering Gun nutz are the most interested in this area, and even a majority of them are posting how is this legal? I think maybe we could give the police a break?

I'm not really down with 'intent'. If you propose a rule that becomes law, you can't turn around and say 'that's not precisely what I meant..' What is written down is what is agreed to, you can't expand on that after the fact. I have respect and sympathy for the police, but I'm not going to give them a 'break'. They're not about to give me any breaks. For them, it's the letter of the law. For me, it will be too.

Actually, it is law as it is written, not a "loophole." Loophole is a word the other side uses to choke off guns. Did you know legal handgun ownership is currently being called a "loophole" by the Libs?

For me, it's the best interests of the general public. Maybe I'm in the majority, maybe not, but if you're not committing a crime by using your mag, why would I even care? As soon as you have a criminal intent, then the hammer falls; but until then, just continue being a good and honest person, because we have a lot more important things to worry about than the capacity of your mag.

Never. They won't give us a break - look at the charges laid around storage. Look at the abuses of (some) officers - Jonathon Login.

The law and regulations say what they say - intent is not an issue. We have to follow the letter of the law: so do the authorities.

And as far as intent goes, the intent of all of this is to incrementally eradicate private firearms ownership in Canada. I'm not on board with that intent.

I think the intent of the people who wrote the law was to do as much damage to the rights of gun owners as they could get away with while they were in a position of power.

POTTSY;
Appreciate your comments, we are working on extending our order desk hours....
Our problem at this time is finding qualified staff who are willing to move to our area in the country....
We have numerous problems in our rural area however; good hunting, good fishing, excellent shooting club, clean air, reasonable living costs, low population density, low crime rate, just to mention a few....
Regards
John

Working for Marstar

We have numerous problems in our rural area
So what are the problems? How about hiring some ex-military or ex-police gunnut looking to supplant the pension? You're fairly central to Ottawa/Montreal, right, so people could still get their city fix on demand...any chance of another kick-in from NWEST or associates?

Aiwa,

If intent, descretion etc weren't components of the law, you'd never see a warning for speeding etc. So obviously those who are inforcing the laws look at intent of the law as well as intent of the person when enforcing the laws. This goes to acting in good faith. Frankly it's part of being a good human being. Anyone can act without thinking, that's easy.

Frankly if someone doesn't want to carry those documents with them, hey don't do it. There's no requirement. I was simply suggesting something that I believe might help prevent any problems. Do with it what you wish.

Firearms possession, usage and storage aren't traffic offences and intent seems to not enter into it. If a charge can be laid, it is.

Your point about carrying an explanatory document is understandable. I think some of us jumped on it because we are tired of feeling persecuted.

Marstar can be hit and miss on the net but they always seem to answer the phone. I can say I have had good service there.
Unfortunately, 10 round rifle-fitting magazines will cause a knee jerk reaction in the authorities much like an AK or a snub nose will. It's probably the first thing they learn and probably the first thing they would check. And speaking of getting jerked our range doesn't allow them( 5rnd max center fire rifle "law"). Found that out after the RO told me where to get them. Extra paperwork is a hassle but it sounds like a good idea, and might just get you on your way a bit quicker
