was looking at Yugo SKS rifles on marstars web page and i was just wondering what the difference is between the following rifles

Yugo M-59
Yugo M-59/66AB1

the M-59 is in stock while the other is sold out. what makes the M-59/66 more desirable than the M-59? is the M-59 still a good Yugo?

im just curious because im looking into buying a Yugo. are there any other sources aside from marstar?
 
They were pretty much the same price when they were first introduced and were available "un-issued". The condition of the 59 is VG hence the $250 price tag.....
Just look at the pics and description on their website for the differences. P&S militaria has both in stock if you want a 59/66.
 
Great! Do they both have the European hardwood stock? I know that Marstar mentions the 59/66 comes with one but what about the M-59?

Both rifles are essentially the same except for a few accessory-type parts. They will both shoot the same. From a collector's point of view the M-59 'Model 1' (we use this unofficial term to differentiate between that and the 59/66) is more uncommon than the later M-59/66AB1 rifles.

the M-59/66 has a Nato Spec Rifle Gernade Launcher on the muzzle so it adds a bit of lenght to the barrel and it also has a gas valve to shut off the gas system.

the Regular M-59 does not have any of that stuff, and is a "Normal" looking SKS, With all it's Fancy stock and quality workmanship.
 
are rubber but pads readily avialible for the M-59? I have a chinese SKS with the pad and if i got that M-59 Yugo it would be more comfortable for me to shoot if i had that extra inch or so it adds.
 
The M-59/66 has a grenade launcher and is in as new condition, where as the M-59 is in Very Good condition and has no grenade launcher, hence the $80 difference, but still the M-59 will be more accurate than any of the other Russian or Chinese SKS's on the range. So far from what I've seen myself at that ranges, including my friends Yugos, they always preformed better with the corrosive ammo than all other sks's. Never tried non-corrosive yet, but I would presume they would be even better. Plus they have the nicest wood finish in my opinion.
 
That's interesting, the only Yugo I've ever seen was in amuseum and the stock looked like it had been whittled out of an old barn board by a little kid.
