Howdy, fellow leadslingers. Does anyone have a clue why these particular rifles are so pricey? By the time it would reach me it would push 400 bucks, what gives. Over the border you can get 'em for around 200 bucks. I think I'll stick with my Russkies and leave the Yugos to the fools. :p Cheers.

Great idea...

Well Sir, if it is the M48bo's you're referring to, they are "pricey" because they are a 60 year old rifle in mint condition, still in the cosmoline they were first dipped in after production. Only one person is currently importing them, so they set the price.
They are amazing rifles, I owned one for a while. We parted ways when her feeding habit became to pricey alas :(
I am a guy who likes to actually fire my guns, 8mm Mauser is an awesome round, but for the amount I shoot, I couldn't afford the price unfortunately.
If you are a hand loader, you can not go wrong with one for the current price though.
They probably won't get cheaper with time you know.

the only way to feed your habit, and that of your milsurp rifles is to reload...

still not cheap, my 8mm Mauser reloads cost me $0.56 per round.

Yugo SKS's at least the m59/66 cost more because they have the grenade launcher sights (with the gas cutoff) as well as tritium sights. I have also heard they are some of the finest SKS's built. Also Im Yugoslav so that would make me want it even more :).

I always thought and heard the Yugo Sks was a sewer pipe. Did anyone here buy one, if so post some pics.
All joking aside, you'll get better responses in the Red Rifles forum. All us old bastards here in the milsurp forum wouldn't know #### about SKS's:D

A Yugo SKS is very collectible and a fine rifle to shoot. There are many varieties to choose. If you simply want an SKS as a shooter, you might want to look for something a bit more common.

Just because you tried one bottle of wine, does not mean the rest are all the same.

I was given some info and apparently the asking price don't seem so bad after all. Has anyone bought one of the recent batch yet? Pics would be appreciated. :nest: :D

Thanks for the clearing up :D
Regardless, buy an M48bo if you hand load! You will not be disapointed!
I have no actual fact based intimate knowledge of the Yugo SKS vice Russian/Chinese so I will comment no further on the topic.
Cheers!
