I was browsing marstar's website and saw some dirt cheap 1911 mags.
I remember a thread on these a while back, but i cant find it again.
what was the verdict on them? any good?
thanks,
Joe

I purchased a half dozen about 2 years ago....They worked well until I started to use them in IDPA (needing 8 rounders).I did have 3 of the 6 fail, but for ten bucks.....you get what you pay for.
Also, cleaning them are a nuisance.
It's your choice, other mags like wilson etc finish about $45 buck when all is said and done.
Hope this helps,

I bought 4x 10 round 45 Wilson mags from Williwaglespeel for about $30/each - A good deal and the mags work very well indeed. Might be worth a message...

Never cheap out on mags. You will be sorry.

he's right I bought a whole bunch of those stupid marstar mags and they worked great for about 200 rounds. Now almost every one gives me ejection issues, jams and other nasties.

Save your money and buy quality, the worse thing for a semi is a ####ty mag its the guns lifeblood

Buy as many as you like and replace just the springs.
You can guess from where.
Worked very well for a friend of mine.

I picked up 6 marstar mages a couple years ago. None of them work reliably, miss-feeds etc. I picked up a couple wilson combat mags off CGN and gave away the marstar mags.

The cheapie Marstar mag I bought with my Norc a few years ago is identical to a "Triple K" brand mag. They both gave me intermittent problems until I adjusted the little tab that trips the slide stop. I've been thinking about getting a Wilson spring & follower kit and seeing if it'll fit into either of them.

Ironically, the Norc mag with the original Colt style flat follower has given me no problems whatsoever. Just goes to show that JMB knew what he was doing, 100 years ago.

I bought some of those $9.99 mags a few years back. Here are some pics of one:

As you can see, they have a rounded, die-stamped follower. The bases read:

COLT
45 AUTO

The quality and finish is surprisingly good apart from some rough spots on the weld and follower. The pictures don't show it very well, but they are pretty slick, and function well. At a guess I would say they have had 200-400 rounds through them each. That's fairly gentle use, mind you, not IPSC type activity.

For $9.99 they were a pretty good deal for me.
