Has anyone owned Marstar's Norinco NP-20 Chinese Police 9mm?

Have you found any worthwhile onlines reviews about it?

If you have owned one, what's your opinion on it?

What other common semi-auto pistols out there have a fixed barrel? I think the Desert eagle does. Anything else?

And Gungeek has some vid/reviews of him shooting it and disassembling it as well. The only other firearm(s) that I can think of that have a fixed barrel are the Hi-Point line. every review of them says the same thing: They're butt a$$ fugly, heavier than a brick, but shoot very very straight. Anywho, hope that helps ^.^b

I had the m77b for a while, which is the same as the np-20 but has the one handed cocking via trigger guard. What I liked was:

- price
- adjustable sights
- very accurate (would shoot clover leafs at 20yrd when shot from a rest)
- very reliable, never had a stoppage

The only thing I didn't like was the ergonomics....between the grip and trigger layout it just felt like I had to hold it very unnaturally (I have average to slightly bigger than average hands). Also the trigger had a plastic pad on the front of it that was uncomfortable and the whole grip/trigger position would pinch my finger between the bottom of the trigger and trigger guard. Since the trigger guard area is as far as I know, the only difference between the m77b and np20, perhaps this is not such a problem with the np20...?

Outside of the ergonomics, which is a very personal thing anyway, it was a great pistol for the money....very reliable and very accurate.

Np-20

It was my first 9mm. Solid but not very accurate. Easy to field strip . Compare it to my XD-9 Tactical 9mm or friends CZ, no comparison . The old saying "You get what you pay for" applies to this. But none the less fun too shoot.

Thanks. Saw these videos. I was considering the Hi-Point until I found out that you had to punch out that thingy in order to strip it. Whereas the NP-20 seems to disassemble very easily.

I have smaller hands, so I'd imagine it'd be okay for me. It's always hard to judge without actually holding one. Reliability, accuracy, reasonably priced are my 3 requirements : )

I could of course always double the money and get a used glock for $500... but the idea of increasing accuracy with a fixed barrel appealed to me.

received my np20 yesterday. Very solid feeling gun. Grip feels very nice to me, smaller hands. Very simple to break down, we broke it down at the range(wildwest), and examined and lubricated it. The range gunsmith is very impressed with it for the price, asked if it came in .40 s&w. I will likely be test firing tomorrow, but so far, I am happy with it.

I have had an M77B for years now. Great pistol, very accurate and extremely reliable. Have not had any sort of malfunction in many thousands of rounds. The only thing I dislike is the brittle plastic they used for the grips. Other than that it is a great pistol!

J.D. While back I had one in stock, the finger cocking thing was
stupid, but other that seemed like a good gun.
I got it because it was dirt cheap, I was really suprised how
good it would shoot, and I don't shoot very good any more.
