I was thinking this could go here or in the Black Powder forum, but I suspect that here is a better fit.

I think I may have my hands on an Martini Henry Artillery Carbine Mk III,

or

I have something buggered up :( to look like a MH AC Mk III

so I need some pointers on my research. I'm not finding a lot on line that is helpful.

They are cool carbines, surprisingly pricey as well. It's almost cooler when they are a cobbled together unit, can rebuild them the right way.

well looking at it a little closer and it looks like its humped.

only markings are for the Mk II rifle, no conversion markings

the barrel is a shortened barrel with the front sight wings, but its not soldered to the barrel, the barrel has a dovetail that the front sight is slotted in

the fore wood is just cut down from a rifle, but the rear sight is a carbine rear sight.

I'll try to get some pics.

but the warning bells are going off, the breach has the letter S marked on it twice, on the top rear of the breach near the hinge one on each side.

I've seen a few khybers with a variety of S stamps all over them.
