Good day gentlemen,

I recently acquired a Martini Muscat Carbine in much need of some elbow grease and TLC. The innards are all loose, but the receiver is sound. The forend may or may not be a cut down full length, (I can't tell) and the butt stock is incorrect. Im a Lee Enfield guy, this rifle is intended to fill a hole in my collection but is a bit out of the scope of my normal projects and I need some help from the experts. So here are my questions:

1. Which Pattern Martini Henry does this rifle most closely match? Appears to match the Mk1 Cavalry Carbine to me?
2. With regards to action/trigger parts are they specific to the carbine or interchangeable?
3. Which butt stocks will the carbine accept? (Besides short lever obviously)

Also I know cleaning up the metal is sacrilegious, but what are your thoughts when the Afghan's have long since stripped all the finish with diesel fuel?

Below are a few pics:

the butt is very interesting,

originally from a enfield Martini Mk1 (402 caliber) then converted to a Martini Henry Mk4 (long lever) and finally somehow ending up on that rifle. ]

you know I think I may have seen that rifle before, a few years back... it seems familiar.
