Picked this up this weekend at a local gunshow, a Martini Sporting rifle in 22lr by J vennables. It has a 26 heavy contour barrel with a milled matted rib running full length of the barrel and an express rear sight with one standing and two folding leaves.Perfect bore.Action has a takedown lever so the action can be removed for cleaning and there is a slot in the the rear of the action so it can be cleaned from the breech.Breech block also has a cocking indicator on it.Balance and feel of the gun is perfect.Took to a range after the show and it is a little tackdriver.I ll be taking it out this season for rabbits should be fun.

Actually I paid $600 for it ,which I consider a great price for it.The seller priced it to sell and there was no interest in it so when I made an offer he accepted .

I'd say that's an excellent price for a rifle of that quality. The Shootist in Prince Albert (w ww.shootist.ab.ca) has a couple of standard "cadet" type Martinis for sale at $569.00. :)

I think most people thought as I did itwas
chambered for one of the British Rook cartridges, in fact I passed by it at first without looking at it closely not wanting another project.I was walking out of the show and decided just for fun to take a look at it.

I have a couple of these rifles and I am always looking for others. I have a couple in .220 or .22lr, one in .256wm. I am trying to find some other calibers some were converted to .22 hornet and .357mag. I have a full size framed .218bee which is an amazingly accurate rifle, girl friend loves shooting it. Have fun, unless its wore out it should be an excellent shooter.

I got a large-frame in .22 Hornet (an A.G. Parker conversion c.1935) a couple of yeats ago from Prophet River. I think it may have originally belonged to "Riflechair" here on CGN

but I'm having a devil of a time getting it to shoot accurately. I got a Sinclair neck trimmer to uniform the necks which may help.
It is possible that it may have been a .22 RF before rechambering to the Hornet. Given Parker's reputation it should be a tack-driver.
Beautiful rifle, though.

I also have a .310 Cadet which I've thought of having rechambered to .357 Mag. but "never got around to it." Ron Smith is the only guy doing this and I understand he's semi-retired and has very long wait times- although if I'd sent it to him after I bought the gun I could have been shooting i quite a lot by now! I also got a CBE .310 mold for it and might start casting my own as I have some brass.

:) Stuart
