Massive Warehouse Sale at FOC! Starts Dec 1, 2018 at 10AM

Rather than collecting canned goods for the food bank, you should collect money. Through bulk purchasing, they can buy 3 times as much food as a regular person at the grocery store. In addition to that, canned food needs to be sorted, expired or damaged goods need to be discarded, and it doesn't provide a lot of the necessary foods. Bread and milk are big items from the food bank for instance, and neither of those can be donated effectively.

Just some food for thought.

NPR did a great episode of Planet Money on this very matter:

Would love to see the full flyer. This is a great store but just a heads up the lines will be crazy! I think it was around a 45min wait to get in the last year.

It just makes sense for everyone involved. By collecting money, the food bank can buy whatever food is in demand for them (this is a big issue actually, donations of canned goods often lead to too much of some stuff but not enough of others), they can buy three times as much as we can, and it saves them money in wages to pay someone to sort through it all. Plus, nobody has to move all the collected food to the food bank, and the store doesn't occupy valuable floor space with food.

This is the best post ever!...makes a lot of sense.

those look like some great deals, I kinda blew my budget with black Friday sales but i'm betting my irresponsible spending will get the better of me.
