MasterPiece Arms MPAR

Interdasting.

Almost looks like an AR180B type spinoff. I spose it depends on what the company publishes it as, if it's marketed as a "built from the ground up" rifle it may have a chance. Definitely looks upper/lower wise completely different.

ETA

Gah, beat by a minute! :p

it looks FALish. from what u can see in the pic it looks like the selector wont move another notch to full auto so that is a plus. but if it is based off an FAL or another then prob will go prohib. the RCMP will look for any little reason to ban a new gun. its easyer i guess then makeing it legal?

I think the firearm blog was showing master piece designed it ground up... They may have taken design elements from other firearms but it is its own design I think

Right from the firearm blog article

"The MPAR will have an MSRP of $959. This pricing is competitive with budget AR-15 such as the Mossberg MMR 556 (MSRP of $921). Its advantages over a budget AR-15 would be the muzzle brake, side folding stock and side charging handle. Its main disadvantages would be incompatibility with wide range of upgrade parts for AR-15s."

A glimmer of hope I think...

I hope that there is already a dealer talking with Masterpiece Arms about these with an 18.5" barrel. I would pay up to 1300 for one if it is NR (which it should be). I suppose if the Canadian dealers are slacking off I could get one through IRG and get a custom barrel made.

Depending on funds at the time of arrival I would love one of these. Very cool for the pricepoint. The more cool black NR rifles in Canada the better.

That is assuming it would be NR

And then you could sit and wait endlessly while the RCMP reclassifies your rifle.

Has the 'backlog' of rebarrelled rifles been cleared - i thought i'd read that there hadn't been any reclassified since the end of the LGR?
