Match brain fart moments...

I shot PPC today which was my first time. I had the slide fail lock back on the last round for a reload. And me not realizing that I put the safety on, fighting why my slide wouldn't rack. So I lost 60 points there. But had fun...

I have also had the brain dump a fraction of a second after the beep. I have studied the WSB and planed my solution to the course of fire. At the LMAR goes well , all is good. Then the dreaded beep, my brain flushes the plan, Next thought, what is next? Oh crap, I need a coffee. Monetarily it all comes back and carry on as if nothing happened and i severed the stage, damn no shoots.

During an IPSC practice session last saturday, I sent 2 in the white, close to the beige but man....were they well grouped.
"Collaborators" were once called "hostages"....not very politically correct today.....

Mine was a DQ for being an idiot. We were starting unloaded with mags and pistol on a barrel and my turn to shoot. I get to the line thinking about the stage and grab my pistol and mags and put them on the barrel, major brain fart, as no instructions were giving to me at all. It was my 3rd match and not thinking as the nerves were getting to me.

Sounds like the kinda thing that will get you a big hug from the RO.

A huge brain fart: unloaded start, with all mags on the table. I was thinking of my initial target engagement - pick up gun, load it, engage targets, reload, run off to the next section. When the beep went, I nailed it perfectly! However, partway through the stage I reached for another mag and nothing..... wtf? Did the mags fall out? Look over at the table to see my mags waiting for me to grab them at the very start, which I didn't do, because I was so focused on the target engagement, rather than the entire start sequence of load up my body, then engage the targets. That wasted several seconds. Oops!

I have had the usual brain farts of missed targets and procedurals. One time I managed to load a 9mm rd into the mag of my .40 cal gun when shooting a classifier. Bang, bang, bang, phuuut. Everyone went whoa, that's a squib! It was an alpha but I still don't know how that 9 got there.

My personal favorite brain fart is when I lift my open gun and cant find the red dot due to not turning it on before the stage.... duh
I learned a fix for that many years ago... turn it on when you unbag at the start and turn it off when you bag it for the day. A battery is one of the most minor expenses of the day at the range.
