Match Fees?

Ok guys..........Help me out.

I want some honest feedback.

With Blizzard bash set to fly this weekend and all the prep work done I have started working on EESA's next matches.

Namely the SPRING THING 3 gun match and Drama Daze School fund raiser.

The question of match fees came up and I wanted to haer from the gang.

I have seen match fees for L2s run from $10 to $40.

EESA normally charges $25 for a L2 match ( like this weekend for example).

However Drama Daze is different on a couple of fronts.

1) IT IS GONG TO BE HUGE!! 9 stages with 188 rounds planned.

2) No patching by competitors........we will have student slave labour

3) The match is to raise money for the local High School and will be directed to the Drama Department for new lighting equipment.

4) Food will be included in the price of the match. ( I am budgeting this at $10 a shooter)

5) I am going to spend quite a bit on Props and match supplies.

Soooooooo?

How much should I set the match fee at?

I do not want to "rape" competitors but I also want to raise a wad of cash for the school. I plan on getting out as much media as possible for this event and a nice cheque would be a great touch.

Lastly.............this will not be the final answer but I do value your input.

I would make it around $50

Make certain you let everyone know it’s a fundraiser (it will reduce the wine factor)

Also see if you can get some sponsors for the food, props or even for the $3.00 IPSC mission fee. (We had someone cover that at one charity match I shot to make certain every penny of the entry fee when to the cause)

And of course it’s a good cause so make certain you invite the local media too.

$ 50.00 is not that bab if you are putting on a match with 9 stages . Add the that you are donating all the profits to a local high school $50.00 mite a little cheap. What about rafles or a draw of some sort of draw. Hit up corprit sponcers Phil did a great job with the sin city open. I will start you out I will donate a dillon range bag ( black ). Let me know if I can help.

I'd set it at $40-$50 with the notion that further donations would be accepted with the fee from entrants who could afford to do so.

Off topic and spank me if you wish, but...
One of my pet peeves is people who will blow umpteen dollars on their gun and equipment and then ##### about a $50 match fee.... These are likely the same people who've never actually hosted a match themselves and therefore have no appreciation of the time and work required...

What's a silly round of golf cost these days?

Because it's a fund raiser, personally I'm willing to pay up to $100. But I think a $50 fee would probably generate the most interest.

IMO you should maybe just only provide drinks. Since we all shoot at different time it's not like we'll get a chance to have a sit down lunch like at the Provincial or National. You can use the use the $$ save from food towards your props and match supplies.

I also like the idea of providing drinks but not food as the shooters will only be on for half days.

Of course the worker bees get their food.
