Who makes a Match Grade HPBT 7.62 round? Not looking for .308 WIN, rifle specifically needs 7.62 NATO. Hollow Point Boat Tail, Sierra MatchKing 168gr. would be ideal as per manual.

I will eventually load my own, but looking for a supply in Canada currently.

Any inventory in Canada?

Thanks in advanced!
Matt

Fluted chamber
308 runs too hot and doesn’t eject.

Ahhh, Thanks for the info.
I dont think the 308 is "too hot".
The Brass is a bit thinner, this (I think) causes the brass to form fit in the flutes and stick rather then letting the gases get around and help extract.

You would have to ask hsm. I bought a couple boxes from corlanes last week though, dont know if they have mote, but it was cheapish, about 40$ a box

We have Lapua ".308 Win" specifically developed by Lapua for semi-autos, 43M7600. Shoots very well in HK MR308 - would be fine in 7.62X51. It uses the Lockbase 170 grain FMJBT which has low drag and was developed and used as a sniper round designated "HPS".

Just in case you were still looking, noveske has it as well. Which is loaded by nosler. I saw wolverine in red deer had some boxes on the shelf, around 40$ a box.

There are boutique ammo companies in the US that have COTS product lines specifically for police and law enforcement. Black Hills comes to mind. Their business model is to get a positive test score so departments and forces can order acknowledged consistent ammo for practise and duty use, without having to do the pressure tests, weight and deviation measurements, and accuracy standards tests themselves. If a department is big enough like the RCMP Depot did when I visited their firearms shop, they'll run their own proving tests.

Federal Gold Medal Match is also available in 7.62 x 51. Another shooter at a course had a case of it and it had the annealed military brass with an “LC” (Lake City) head-stamp and was loaded with the Sierra 175 Match King. The brass was dull and appeared in all respects to be military brass vs the nice shiny commercial brass in my case of 308 FGMM 175 I was using. The boxes were standard Federal boxes with the exception that they were labeled 7.62 x 51.

308 and 7.62 are loaded to about the same pressure limits. But 7.62 usually uses a heavier case.

If I was you I would buy a case of milsurp 7.62 (Hirtenberger), pull the bullets and substitutre a match bullet. This is called "Mexican match".

If you pull 147s and install 175s, you would have to re-throw the powder charge, dropping it about 3 grains.
