Match performance preparation - eating

Lessons learned the hard way:
Drink constantly. Don't let yourself get thirsty if you can help it. If you are thirsty you are already dehydrated. I'm not a huge fan of sports drinks.
Eat small amounts all day long. Don't get too full and don't get too hungry. Avoid eating too much starchy carbs, favoring stuff with protein to keep the blood sugar nice and even.
Never count on range food or water. The one time you don't bring your own will be the one time they don't have any.

I don't have any great advice to add except to say that if you're coming out for Nationals this year.....it's been really hot the last 2 weeks. Hydration will likely be the name of the game.

I hate hot weather. Hate it. I like cloudy.. about 18 degrees. Perfect.

My pre match eating habit is no different to my normal eating habit.. although I should probably stop drinking so much coffee on the way to the range. Smoking might not be doing me any favours either..
