Match result wait times

Yes, it was a while back I asked (2-3 years ago?) The idea was to take the signed up shooters from ipsc-matches and populate the winmss match record, with names, divisions, power factors, etc.

If we can do that, then you, on the receiving end, wouldn't need to worry (too much) about the different spellings of names, since a particular shooter would always be referred to by the name (s)he provided when signing up.

That would be really neat and you seem to have all required information on your end.

...I'm assuming that winmss has the capability of opening/using different DB files, so the stats person could just open/load the one from the signup system, for that match, without affecting whatever existing shooter data he might have elsewhere.

Not directly, but it can be done by renaming/backing up the database file.

...the alternative is to try and match what's already in the winmms file for that md/stats with the names in the signup system... I see you're doing that for your stats thing, but I don't want to bother doing that on my end...

You won't have to, because the names will be coming from your system.

re #####ing - ... I frequently see you complaining about things which aren't done quickly enough, well enough, etc - it's annoying, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks that, even if I tend to say it more.

I know I am not the person who easily gives compliments, but you misunderstood my comments. They are merely suggestions for improvements and it is up to you to use them or not. Maybe I am stating some obvious things and ideas, but I can't read someone's else mind. So, no need to take everything I say as a negative comment. You are already in much better position and have data that could be used for a lot of interesting things and all I could do is to suggest things.

PS: btw, it took me 15 minutes to crank together converter of the members.pdf published on IPSC Ontario to WinMSS members.mdb that can be imported. That could at least help to save on re-typing the member names. I don't think I can do much more then that outside of the match registration system.

As an example of a typical Eastern Ontario Level II match at the Smiths Falls Fish and Game Club :
5-9 guys from the club do set up on Friday and shoot the match.(couple members don't shoot as they are not IPSC members, they just help out)

1 guy, me , runs the match on the Saturday and begs for any one to stay for the tear down.
Last match, most stayed, and tear down was quick.
Last year and year before, I was still doing tear down at 7 pm with the 1-2 guys who stayed to help.

Sunday I do all the Stats and send them off.
Usually take 2-3 hours in total on Sunday.
Unless I get a Stats guy volunteer to do it during the match, they will always be day after.

I don't want to make working mandatory but am thinking of going with a reduced match fee for workers. i.e. $30 to shoot match, $20 if you work it (RO and/or tear down).

One thing is for sure, I will not run any more matches if I don't get help tearing down.
