Just curious to see if there are any replacement M-14 trigger groups that can be found in canada that are match grade. I have seen them in the US, but not in Canada.

I want to keep the one I have now as a spare that way I could have a really nice trigger for benchrest shooting in one, and my standard heavy military trigger in the other. You can never have enough spare parts if you are shooting a match with your guns.

Thanks for the time.

Hungry showed me on a M14 course how to smooth out your factory trigger with 600 grit valve grinding compount on the hammer hooks. Spend an hour working the first stage back and forth while you watch TV. I've done a few now, and it's the difference of night and day.

Did you ever weigh the pull after the mod?

SEI trigger upgrade

Waiting for my norc trigger upgrade to come back, this is the job I went for: M14/M21A5 C-IED 4.5 lb MAX-PAK Trigger Upgrade.

Will update when I get it back.

I have 4 SEI MAX-PAKd trigger groups, 2 are TRW, 2 are ChiCom...
all 4 fit, feel and function the same.

Not an inexpensive upgrade, but well worth the money.

Yup, I am planning on doing that, I just don't know where to get a spare trigger group.

You can order a TG from 7,62mmfirearms. Fair price too.

For the trigger pull, if someone offer 3.5lbs, you should choose a different gunsmith. Every experts agrees that 4.5-5lbs is the minimum for a safe M14.

Will anyone do sub 4 1.2 lbs ? more like 3.5 or 4.0 even.

Too easy to bounce your finger with the amount of recoil that the M-14 kicks back at you. It is pretty much universally agreed that you are asking for uncontrolled second round or more with that light a pull on this rifle.

Hungry also teaches the value of grease on those hooks.

Yep. I was lucky enough to attend a small seminar he put on at his house a few years back and he mentioned this. It is all I have done and with the grease and shooting/working the trigger the pull is nice and smooth. Never weighed it.

I really advocate AGAINST lightening your trigger. Yup, M14Doctor does them, but be aware that you have to pay $ for it. I'm still an holdout for the FREE method of smoothing your first stage with grease (at first) then the fine valve grinding compound if you factory trigger/sear engagement is gritty/bouncy/rough. :D

Lightening the trigger pull/weight according to the USA Gunsmith and M1A experts like Jerry Kuhnhausen et al requires special stones, very special & difficult angles to be stone on your hammer hooks and I AIN'T touching that issue. The consequences can be quite  alarming! Kinda like having ### with expired condoms. or A box of chocolates; "You never know what yer gonna get." AND all this is IF you do it yourself.

So if you really , really want a light M14 trigger, then I suggest you PM / email M14Doctor! :D

Hope this helps!

Merry Chrismukkah! :D
