Matching numbers rant

Don't forget about Force Matching, and that isn't May the 4th be with you! May the Examples show you the way!

There is Matching (All Original K98 Mauser as it left Oberndorf Germany), There is Refurb Matching (Vopo East German K98) and there is Force matching (Russian Capture K98 that is Heavily Humped and Dinked with).

Once a rifle has been Dinked With, it is no longer Original Matching.

Its either all matching or it is not matching.

Matching does not refer to refurbished or not, that is a separate distinction.

These are all descriptions. I don't think they are meant to mislead.

I disagree. People are trying to sell the guns so they’re trying to represent them in the best way possible and hoping that the buyer overlooks something. Instead of saying “BNIB in box with one mag through it” hoping that the person will only notice the BNIB, they could just as easily say “very little use, only one mag through it”.

How would you describe a rifle that has "all matching numbers except one part"? What's wrong with "all except smth" semantics? As a "mismatched"? How would you differentiate from a rifle with ALL numbers mismatched?
At least information is present and correct unlike with "factory vs refurb matching" topic.

I would just list the mismatched part without mentioning the rest as "all matching".

"Rifle is in very good condition and has a mismatched bolt."
