Followed up by a thorough cleaning and oiling of course.:cool:
 
Congrats on a rare acquisition! That will definitely be one to pass down generation to generation! Very envious!! Thx for the pics nice to know there are treasures like this in good hands(not in Bubba's!)
 
Fantastic looking rifle,...always wondered why the Germans used slot in the butt to put the sling, and placed the front sling swivel on the side of forestock, rather than under .

I think they are more comfortable to carry that way also they can be slung diagonally across the back without parts digging into one's anatomy. Plus the sling is a better aid to shooting when wrapped around the left arm if mounted on the side of the rifle.
