Matching Serial Numbers?

From what I understand, there are cases where "all original" matching rifles could be less accurate than a refurb due to worn out bores, actions etc. Generally speaking I believe it's mostly historical/collector value. The other benefit is that the serial numbers give a reference point as to year of production, and where it was manufactured. Check out Curtton's stickies for more info.

Mismatched serial numbers would indicate acceptable replacement parts/pieces taken from poor condition rifles and replacing damaged parts of a slightly better condition rifle. Refurbs are generally considered "as new".

mismatching can make it less accurate or less smooth because when a gun shoots so much rounds it wears down pieces over time and cause slight wear on metal or other parts. When you put a different part in the rifle it might have different wear and not run as smoothly as if it were the original part. But that causes slight imperfection and more the likely unnoticeable. Other then that I believe its mostly just for collector value.
