IS there such a thing around as a matching SVT-40 without the arsenal refurb stamps & electro penciled serials?

Also which parts are normally stamped, it appears to me to be just the stock, magazine, receiver & barrel.

The bolt carrier and bolt can have a stamped serial number too depending on year and maker i think. I have a 1943 Tula that have a serial on stock, magazine, receiver, barrel bolt carrier and bolt, and trigerguard (i forgot) but i think it has a arsnal rework stamp on the receiver.

Also, what ever happened to the cleaning kits and bayonets? does anyone know, did the russkies re-purpose them, melt them down to make the seemingly endless supply of Mosin kits?

i.e. why does it cost me more for the bayonet than the actual rifle?!!?

What's up with that?

Forget about a matching SVT. Like Claven said, only hope would be a finn capture or a SVT 38. All SVT we have are somewhat force match at some point and a mixup of parts. About bayonet, supposedly, many were kept as a souvenirs and svt bayo can be a useful knife and manys were probably melted as well, i guess same thing happened with the original svt scope mount, the last 1 i saw on ebay was sold for $3150 with a scope:eek: I bought a cleaning kit on gunbroken last winter for $99 and i was lucky because they are very scarce

old svt imports were in my opinion better than the recent batch. The one i bought several years ago have stock, receiver, barrel bolt carrier and bolt stamped matching. The magazine is not. It does not have the SA marking but it think it has refurb stamp and the bolt carrier was plum (not anymore!)
 
Good questions. People have provided good info on what an all matching SVT40 would look like, but I do not think many are out there. The early import SA (Finn) captures are close, but most are not 100% matching.

I know in the US and France a few all matching SVT's have turned up that were captured off German soldiers, but again this is very rare.

The rifles were originally supposed to be issued with 3x mags, bayonet, one mag pouch, sling with 1-2 cleaning kits per squad.

Some bayonets were converted and many were sold to surplus dealers independent of the rifles. The odd time original cleaning kits in the cloth pouch turn up and same with the mags. Usually there were 1-2 stock wrenches and 1-2 gas tools imported in the bottom of the SVT crates recently imported. Usually they were kept by the dealers, only P&D and West Rifle sold them customers that I know of. Where did all the original mags go? I have no idea. Even the mag pouches/slings that come with the rifles are post war and not original to the SVT. You can find original SVT slings in Europe and the odd dealer in the US has some as well.
 
All very interesting, I was just curious really, I had someone ask me to get them a matching one & it occurred to me that I had never seen or heard of a matching SVT ...

Again very interesting, certainly answers why the cleaning kits are MIA ... with 3 mags/rifle though I certainly would expect to see more of them around and much cheaper than they go for....

I had forgotten that the trigger guards were stamped too.

The US had a bunch of surplus mags, but still sold them for $150 US and they were non-pinned.
