Went out today with a lad an long story short a great evening,we split up an he shot this guy 2 ridges ahead of me at a junction across gulleys. shot with an Abolt 270 an 150gr super x's under 100m

I was chasing Sambars in Victoria at Christmas time, the blackberries were so high, thick and sharp I couldn't believe you guys hunt through that. My gear and my skin were cut to bits. I did see 4, but no shot. Disappointing, but I was wondering how the hell we were going to get the deer out, it was all up and down, thick blackberry. Those Aussie hunters are tough!!

Yeah? That's awesome man, good job on getting down here chasing Sambar!
They do live in some full on country, Steep and Covered in Black berry, especially down in the gulleys!
Without being nosey, which area were you hunting? I live in the thick of it so im not going to run down there an hunt it, just asking out of curiosity. closest major town?

You done well to see 4, it isn't uncommon not to be able to get a shot at them, especially if they were onto you and sat quite until you got close before busting off at 100 miles an hour through the thick!
