Matrix .277 Bullets

Had a few minutes to go to the range today and try out the bullets.
Didn't have much time(promised the wife we'd go shopping for some stupid reason), so only loaded up 5 of the .277 165's with RL22 and 5 of the 6.5mm 142's with RL25.

The 270 Win put all 5 into a hair over 3/4"!! May not excite most people, but I thought it was pretty good for the first load and will definately work on it some more.

The 6.5-06 definately likes the 142's!! First two went into the same hole, 3rd was 5/16" high, but then I got excited and pulled the 4th about 3/4"low. Again, pretty damn good for the 1st try and will definately be loading more!!

I have some matrix .284 for a 7mm rem mag on the way I'm really excited to see what they can do although I'm worried I won't get as much velocity as I want out my 24" barrel. What barrel length and velocity were you seeing In your loads sundance?

Haven't brought out the chrony, yet, and just dropped of the 270 to Guntech this afternoon to have the trigger tuned up, so won't be doing anything for a week or so. The rifle is a bone stock Rem 700 with 22" barrel, and the 6.5-06 is a 26" stainless built on an Interarms Mark X action.

What grain did you order for the 7mm? I was able to hit 3000fps with RL25 and 160 Accubonds in my old one with a 24" barrel, so you may be surprised.

Is this a match grade bullet for 1000 yard shooting? Finally? For a caliber that has so much to offer, it has been for so long ignored... I do understand the reasoning "we have 6.5 and 7 mm, why bother with a 6.8mm?" but the 270 win has been around for almost a century, and given the lack of match grade ammo, has a reputation for being accurate. Why not milk it?

Those 145 and 165gr VLD. 277's looks great ! Sundance1972 was gracious enough to share some with me....if they shoot for me Ill switch over to them with no second thoughts. Its too bad Ill have to seat the 165's deeper than I want in my Sako DM so Im not going into the this with the highest expectations....Hopefully Im in for a surprise.
