Mauser 18 Fenris anyone hands on?

I should be receiving mine any day now! I ordered it the day that they were announced (~January 2023). I was told a few days ago that mine is going to be the first entering North America, and that my M18 Fenris is the only one in that shipment.
Still thinking about which scope I want to pair with it!
What reputation are you talking about? Mauser was bankrupt like 4 or 5 times over and over again, the trademark was bought by different companies multiple times. At the time Mauser is cheapest brand Blaser has and it builds it to the price point. M03 was a quality rifle, from M12 and on it goes cheaper cheaper and cheaper as it could be considering all the euro taxes and import export dues.
Looks like a Sauer 100 in a GRS stock.
Hope OP didn't drop huge coin, big Sauer sale on now with the distributor dropping them, Sauer 100 Fieldshoot are on for $1370 or so with free shipping. Same action as the Mauser, same parent company dropping them with different names...same as Howa/Vanguard kinda thing.
Fieldshoot looks nice at least, but yeah, same basic entry level budget long actions on all these like Tikka, Savage Axis, sort of thing. Same action for 223 or 300Win to cut cost.
I'm liking this stock though.

Just sharing for anybody who happens to come across this thread at some point while researching the Mauser M18 Fenris.
Here is 'out of the box' at 100y, after taking 2 shots to zero post bore-sighting. Factory 'match' ammo produced by Sako.
Since this target, I've been able to bring it in to under 0.5" spread for 10-round groups.
The rifle is meeting and exceeding my expectations. I will consider hand loading when supplies become more readily available.

Wow, for what is supposed to be a very similar rifle as the Sauer 100, same barrels etc. yours sure puts the Sauers to shame for accuracy, at least the ones I’ve had. Looks like you have a real ringer there, if it shoots that well don’t ever sell it, you might have a hard time finding another one as good.

I don’t know much about Sauer and have never seen one in person, but i’m checking out their instagram and it does look like Blaser (the parent company) uses a lot of the same/similar parts for Mauser and Sauer
Before the Mauser M18 Fenris was available for purchase, i saw a few reviews (Chris Parkin, and some other guys in Europe) that pretty much all said that is was a relatively precise rifle
I honestly really wanted a Cadex (they’re made very close to where i live!) but i really don’t like how they look! I would have made the exception for their ‘hunting’ rifle, but they unfortunately made those without an adjustable stock, a very inconvenient barrel, and it’s impossible to use with a scope with an objective larger than 40mm.
I’m not a huge fan of the GRS stock either on this M18 Fenris, first because i prefer the look and feel of older wood stock Mausers (M96 especially), but also because the bolt touches the stock even when the cheek piece is all the way down (it’s still possible to remove the bolt, of course). If the cheek piece is lifted at all, the bolt cannot be removed. As somebody who removes the bolt for transport, storage, and cleaning after every use, i find this very annoying. I have now marked the rail of my cheek piece so that i can always re-adjust it quickly to my prefered height. This was not a problem with the folding-stock cadex rifles i have tried of course, but i wonder how it works with the Cadex Sheepdog (i haven’t had the opportunity to try)

It looks like it shoots all right, not really mind blowing group there, but with some handloads and tuning it will get better. I have a couple cheap Savages, 10HS in 308, and a 12FV in an MDT XRS in 6.5CM, I use shoot n see target patches for targets at 100m, they are about 1/2" circle, goal is to put 5 into each one, usually successful 9 out of 10 times, always seem to blow one late in the string...
