mauser 96?

The Mauser 96 is not the best choice for a precision rifle due to their long lock time. The receiver cutout on the side to facilitate stripper clip loading also contributes to receiver flex.

The Swede had some luck with the G63 and G80

My m96 shoots 5 139 grain Lapua Scenars into a .301 (center to center) group at 100 yards. I has the original military barrel and it's bedded into a Bell and Carlson medalist stock.

The original barrel is a bit of a pain in the butt because it heats up so fast and causes mirage (though the change in poi is minimal).

I'll never win F-class with it, but it should suffice for any reasonably sized target out to 1000 yards.
