Mauser 98 action question

To my knowledge, PH never sold these actions. The bankruptcy receivers sold them as "PH parts and stock". I recall them being sold for around $60, $90 for an engraved one. But people bought them (again, NOT from PH) and they were made into rifles without proper heat treating. Some 'smiths were smart enough to test the hardness first and get them treated, but a lot were just put together the way they were. Luckily, as mentioned, there weren't many of them to begin with comparatively speaking. - dan

My Rigby is built on a Military pattern Erfurt receiver. Interesting rifle and shoots very well. When I bought it the auctioneer announced that BATF had banned import of thumb notch mausers so I got it for £1100. Lovely rifle!

Later or in the morning, bed time here now!

I'll get it out of the gun cabinet later and take some decent pics. Dogs need walking now.
