Mauser 98 chambered in 6.5x55?

The receiver looks like from a Wehrmanngewehr, the barrel looks Swedish. Original WMGs were built/modified to shoot the 8,15x46R cartridge. How does the bolt face look on yours?

Here are some pictures:

It's not in english but the pics will tell the story...

my question is, has anybody seen many factory 98's chambered in 6.5x55?

I've seen them being sold on Swedish used gun sites occassionally.

The Husqvarna Model 646 (640 series) is built on an FN M98 action and chambered in 6.5x55mm.

I've never seen one in Canada though.

FWIW, the Husqvarna Model 648 was chambered in 7.92x57mm and the Model 649 was chambered in 9.3x62mm.

There's supposed to be some chambered in .30-06 too, but I've never even seen one of them on the Swedish gun sites.

Measured the action screws last night and the are the same distance apart as a short action Mauser according to the book I have
sorry, I meant small ring Mauser ( 6.5" between centers)
A friend if mine whose has a 1909 seems to think the marks that are almost polished off on my receiver seem to look very much like the marks on his rifle .
According to the guys on another site, the 1909 has the same barrel shank as the '96 Mauser as well, which would account for the stepped barrel in 6.5X55.

Trade-Ex has a Danish "M69" which has a German K98 military action and a military stepped barrel chambered in 6.5x55. The bore is in "very good condition". For under $400, it's a good starting point for a custom job, or install a K98 stock and have an uber-rare "military" K98 chambered in 6.5x55. It's been sitting for some time because most people who buy M69's want the medium-heavy S&L target barrel. I often wondered where that barrel came from.
