Key give away even on the side view of the scope is that it was once mounted/soldered to commercial mounts. The Wehrmacht or SS didn't use a commercial mount even close to the ones that had been removed.
If looking for original WWII optics - there are lots of period optics that are correct that were mounted to commercial rifles. Often with commercial mounts. Many dealers take the soldered mounts off and sell them as original military scopes. Those soldered marks give away the true story.

That scope appears to be a Hensoldt Wetzlar 8x. Although one of these was featured in Enemy at the Gates there is little to no evidence that these scopes were actually used by snipers of the Wehrmacht. They're just big and impressive looking so Hollywood ran with it. Standard issue was usually 4x.
Like agentcq says, this scope was likely mounted on a commercial hunting rifle, but until we see close ups of the markings we won't be able to tell you if it's pre war or post war.

Sad. Now that the rifle's been ruined as a collector you might as well flog that scope and the commercial rings to some ignorant noob who wants to be "Maj. Koenig" and buy a pair of repro turret mounts and slap them on with some correct period scope you buy off eBay.
