Mauser Action

Most bolt action rifles produced now or ever have some from or feature of Paul Mauser's original patent. Even the US government had to pay dearly for taking some MAUSER ideas and using them in the 1903 Springfield.

Is that correct? Would they actually pay a country they were at war with for patent infringment?
 
30-06 rip off of Mauser 8mm

The U.S. had to abide by International Patent Infringement for their take on the 98 Mauser Bolt action. I believe at the time the sum totalled $600,000.00 for their 1903 Springfied rifle. Regards

You sure? I know after WW1 a lot of German patents were voided as part of the whole war re-payment thing.

Edit: I suppose in 1903 that wasn't the case yet....
 
The remington 700 is a bolt action,but it is definitely not a mauser action.Neither are many of the commercial bolt actions currently being produced.
