My uncle has what he calls a Swedish Mauser. He doesn't have any cartridges and was asking for my help.

He thinks it's a 9mm but I never heard of a 9mm Mauser, I thought it would be this stuff;

Can anyone confirm, here are some pictures of his rifle...

Might be a good idea to get a chamber cast. That will determine without doubt what it is.

The "9mm Mauser" he's thinking of MAY (note I said MAY :d) be a 9x62 Brenneke round. Good luck finding THAT in Canada.

If it's just a stock surplus Swedish Mauser, it will take the 6.5x55 Mauser round.

More pics definitely needed!!! (she looks like a nice rifle anyway :p )

The disc clearly indicates it was originally 6.5x55, but as mentioned, it may have been rebarreled. The photo isn't super clear, but it looks as though the disc shows the last time it went through the Arsenal it had a 6.51mm bore (they were replaced at 6.55) and the bore condition rated a 2 on the scale of 0-4 (replace at 4).

Measure the muzzle... The difference between 6.5mm and 9mm is profound. Even a plain ruler will make it clear!

If it was rebarrled and chambered for something other then 6.5x55 it would have been stamped on the barrel. If not it's a pretty safe bet that its still a 6.5x55 sweed mauser.
