I have a really nice all matching perfect internal C96, I told myself I wouldn't go down the milsurp road again having once had over 75 peices, yet I find myself thinking about getting the period appropriate accesories, is ittime to nip this in the bud or head to the dark side?

PICTURES!!

Show me yours and Ill show you mine

Sparrow, I think you should completely and truly kick the habit before it hits you again. Afterall, they say that even a tiny bite will completely revert you to your old addiction formed ways.

So, to save you from such a fate, I'd be willing to take that piece off you and use it to fill my next fix. :D

Go to the Dark Side, young Sparrow ... besides, you can always shoot a Tac Rifle match with it! :D I hope you have a good supply of stripper clips ...

Is it 9mm or 7.62?

Here's mine:

Did I mention I saw a Pickelhaube for sale today??

Milsurps are just plain fun, keep it and shoot it. I find that my milsurps get left in the closet for a year or so at a time, but I always come back to them for fun shooting. They are great to practice with, especially when you can find cheap surplus ammo. As you know, they can be addicting, but so what, keep them in good condition, don't abuse them and they are also a fine investment strategy. See if you can do the same thing with most sporting rifles in your lifetime. bearhunter

You know, I have decided that since it is not made of plastic and aluminum I am going to bin the habit ASAP...that doesn't mean I don't know what it's worth, hey even the grips match...I have some pics if anyone want to post them??..

DOOOOhhhh!! That thing is gorgeous!! Don't show me stuff like that. It's my wish list pistol since I was five years old. And if you know what its worth, there's NO way I can buy it. AARRRGGGHHHH!!!! we wants it, we wants it, don't we my precious?

Look for it in the EE boys unless someone has a nice AR15 they want to trade. Thanks for the advice, I'm still torn, I've wanted one for so long now I have it...well you know...

FWIW, the C96 doesn't impress me that much - nor does any 96. As rare as they are, my gunsmith collects them and he ALWAYS has basically unissued ones lying around, sometimes even for sale. I see them so often that they fail to impress anymore! Strange, huh?

I think that people in the trade get to see this stuff first from estate bring-ins, etc. and therefore they get the best pickings.

Just last week I found out another buddy got an unregistered antique cone-hammer in perfect like new condition for a song. And yes, he knows what it's really worth, and no, it's not for sale at any price :( Sadly :(
