mauser c96

Okay so with a digital caliper he measured and got a measurement of 8.80. so that would in fact be a 9mm? he said it wasnt a reloading caliper just a mastercraft one, he also but one of the 9mm bullets in the muzzle and it slid right in. SO I am thinking its the c96 export? some one said that its to old for that but from what i read they started making them in i think 1904? you guys have been great help thanx.
 
after more talking with him i feel that the ammo he has is 9x19 or 9mm parabellum but this ammo may not be for this gun either as the person he inherited from collected old firearms. starting get very puzzled with this.
