Anybody else take a beating to the cheek when shooting a mauser? I shot 40rnds out of my verguiro & my cheek is super sore. Same thing happened when I had a k98, but not with any other type(mosin, steyr etc.). Am i doing something stupid?

Maybe the length of pull is too short or you. Try to put on a slip-on pad to add length.

Agreed, low sights make you get your face planted, plus the 8mm cartrige is a motha f...... of a round ain't it!

If you have a long neck, that can be a real problem with certain rifles. You may also be keeping your head bac to far on the butt. You wouldn't be left eye dominant and right handed by any chance? Mindyou if you were, it would really hurt, but I've seen more than a few with this condition. They look extremely awkward when trying to use the opposite eye so that they can get a clear sight picture. bearhunter

I have never had this problem in the many rounds I have put through my k98...although I usually get "Kraut Shoulder" from it
