I just got a call from a collector that wants to restore the double-set trigger in his commercial Mauser sporter.

The gun is in 9mm Mauser and is complete except the set (Rear) trigger is missing along with some internal parts. He has taken it to a gunsmith that is familiar with Brnos and has some parts for them but the Garman triggers are different.
Anyone know where he can get replacement parts or has a lead on a source for them. He would probably buy a used gun just for the parts.

Thanks

Al

Al; I have the same problem with a couple of Mausers, beats me why someone would remove the trigger and not put it somewhere safe - like under the buttplate eg. Been searching for about a year not too successfully but in the meantime I have removed the DST assembly and replaced it with a military trigger. I have purchased several rear triggers from Track of the Wolf but they will need modification, I'll see how that works out asap. I would be interested in the Brno trigger parts if your collector would be willing to give me a way of contacting him. Thanks in advance --- John 303.

Check out New England Custom Gun. They have new double-set trigger units that are designed to be installed in Mauser-type actions. They aren't cheap, but they are certainly less expensive than an entire rifle. I've been looking at buying one to install in a nice european-style sporter, but I need to find a suitable action first. Too many projects, not enough time/money.

Erik.

First things first. Got any idea what type of DST it is? Got any pictures of the remains?

There are a couple different types. The most common, if you can call it that, is a double lever type that is composed of two separate trigger parts that overlap each other inside the housing. There are a couple places around the web that have pictures, and if you cannot find what you need, I can probably dig something up. A fair bit of fancy file work to make, but can be made that way if you ar emotivated enough. Then the parts must be final fitted and heat treated to prevent wear from taking it's toll in use.

There are a couple other, quite complicated, and somewhat less common designs out there as well. Those, if the subject DST is one of them, are a whole 'nuther ball game to reproduce parts for.

http://w ww.hallowellco.com/double_set_triggers.htm look to be same or similar to the trigger sold by Brownells. May be worth looking at as a replacement.

Most of the double lever triggers work on a similar principle, but differ in the minor details to the point where careful fitting is required.
