So I have an old Mauser Geha in 16ga that I got from my grandfather and I was wondering if there were anyway to convert it back to rifle cartridge? Like a 7x57mm or something else? Im assuming I'll need the help of a professional gunsmith..
If not, anyone ever had the barrel shorten and threaded to accomodate screw in chokes?

Thanks, I'm not using the gun much in it's current form but can't seem to get rid of it (sentimental and all) so I'm looking to change it's purpose

No chance on putting metal back from where it was machined away for the bolt head to fit in the front receiver ring

I own one in 16 gauge as well. Being cylinder bore, it was pretty useless for hunting.
I had a gunsmith install an old 16 gauge poly choke on it. Now, with having to sight over the choke, it prints a foot low at 20 yards.
Next I will see if I can add a raised section in the area of the charging bridge.
