No - not a how to clean my gun question. Rather, does anyone have information on how German soldiers were instructed to clean their rifles? I know there were cleaning kits issues with a sort of chain linked pull through.

I speak German too if anyone has original source material. (I can translate)

The standard German solvent was something with a name like 'Balistoil'. The ordinary Landser footsoldier was a machine gun ammunition carrier first and a rifleman second. Their squads and defences were built around the MG34 and 42 fire team. You might have better luck researching machine gun maintenance.

To answer your question, it would make sense that the orders were to clean before and after firing. Brush off the loose dirt and pull the barrel.

Hi, I have an original wartime manual that goes into detail, will try and post some scans in the next day or so...hope this helps, take care,
Joe
