Mauser Gurus, please help, need Info about a >>>>> G33/40 <<<<<

All what I know so far:
  • it is a G33/40
  • bore is very good
  • can't find any "dirty birds", but there is a "rampant lion" instead 9picture #6
  • only a few serial numbers (all pictured), seems not matching
  • the rear sight looks not correct for a mountain Carbine

here are the pictures:

Here are my questions:
  • is this a post war sanitized rifle for border guard and police use?
  • tell me anything you might know about it
  • What is the approximate value as is?

Sadly it’s a mess!!

Post war finished dou45, Czech proofed, sent to Israel, then someone fitted it to a G33/40 stock. Was never a g33/40, and everything but the stock is post war.

Well someone did go to the trouble of shortening the barrel. I’d say the same value as any unique shooter....$500-800

These stocks were brought into the USA in good numbers the last few years from Norway.

Yep was about to say looks like a post-war refurb shipped off to Israel...

Still rather neat regardless. Considering the places it's been if that rifle could talk...

edit: rear sight looks like a Yugo part, have the identical one on my M98/48. Possibly rebuilt by the Yugoslavs?

I'd avoid it as it's a rebuild which may work great or may not. I'd want to inspect it in person and would be eyeing it as a shooter for function only. Some old mausers are darn accurate.

The interesting thing about the video is that the rifle shown is stamped g33/40 and appears correct BUT the bolt handle does not have the lightening hollow (obviously we cannot see if there are lightening cuts under the side rails due to the stock) AND it is clearly a ‘stepped’ receiver ie not a traditional ‘small ring’ contour. Do you think be has a fake in the video?
