I currently own an HSC. Which as far as I can tell and please correct me if I am wrong, I am not allowed to use on a range, even if I had the time to take it to one. Can these things be sold or would it be easier to deactivate it and put it on a wall?

If you have your 12-6 your perfectly able to take it to the range. If you don't have it, you shouldn't have the pistol according to our guberment so good on you!, er I mean you naughty person.

Don't confuse the 12(6) prohibited handguns with other 12(x) prohibited guns. As stated above 12(6) handguns can be taken to the range if you have 12(6) on your licence.

My ATT is valid for all restricted firearms, and/or prohibited handguns. I think that this is pretty much standard. A registered HSC can be transferred to anyone with a 12(6) PAL.

OK so I won''t deactivate it, and I likley won't sell it either. I have 12(6) on my POL but I have to get a PAL and I imagine that will be a hassel. What kind of money do these things go for if one was to sell?

As far as I know a POL is just as good as a PAL in order to get transport permits. You can take the gun to the range with a POL, you can buy ammunition to shoot in the gun. The restriction of a PAL is only that you can not acquire more guns. While I think it is a good idea to have a PAL (gives you the option of buying more) there is no reason you need one to use what you presently have.

And please don't deactivate the gun.

As far as sale prices it depends on condition of the gun and if it has Nazi markings and how soon you want to sell. I got lucky on the one I bought. A widow was going to turn in the guns (a HSC and a Mauser 1934 with holsters) for destruction. The RCMP officer asked her to sell it rather than destroy it. I bought both for $100.:)

While being prohibited has reduced it's value I could see you getting at least $250 for it if it is in good condition. If you could sell it in the USA it could sell for a lot more but a lot of the sale price would go to the importer and dealer selling the gun.

OK, here's a question. A person has a prohib. class POL. They wish to upgrade to a PAL. I'm assuming the new PAL will have prohib. privileges - does anyone know for sure?

If this is your ONLY 12-6 firearm currently in your posession, do not get rid of it. You lose the 12-6 class on your PAL FOREVER and you will never get it back...had a friend who lost his this way, thinking he could always buy another one. Take care and good luck,
Joe
