Well beyond my means, but nice to see 98s are being made again in the mauser factory.

I think only 375 and 416 for now with plans for a full line.

They've had the Mauser 98, both standard and magnum on their website for at least a year now. I haven't seen any pricing, but I'm guessing they are around $10k. I'm wondering if any of our Canadian dealers will bring any in? Seeing as most Mauser 98 are custom builds now, a factory version shouldn't have too hard of time competing as long as the quality is high.

I recall seeing the current M98 in Mauser's catalogues and at various trade shows since at least 2006.
The last one I looked at (in 375 H&H) was up at around $8500 IIRC.

I just checked the Mauser website, and they are offering both a standard and a magnum version with a reasonable choice of chamberings. The Rigby cocking piece peep sight would be a nice touch, and so would the hard case. They are pretty rifles; a guy could be tempted to do some selling to get one. Of course with the shape of our dollar . . .

416 rigby started with magnum mauser action then the standard action ....

never been able to know what kind of action was on my father one.

BUM before 1940 Rigby used a mauser magnum action created for the 416 Rigby.
around 189 of them were built.

after WWII Rifby used the military action opened up, .350 rigby rifles and the famous Brevex action (maybe the kind of action used on my Father 416) and later the Brno actions.

But this one is the most famous. Even though a Magnum would be a dream rifle for me, THIS one is the Holy Grail of rifles.
