Mauser K98 price check

The RC are quick dipped, and a couple parts are Electro pencil.

The Czech and ddr and Yugo are rebarreled, ground numbers,
Restamped to match, total Reblue and most often post war wood.

I agree the RC are overpriced. But I still prefer them to other refurbs.

Eagles with swastikas?

Russian capture retail about 900 now collector shooter
Yugo 98 about 600+ shooter
German noncapture 1400+ Collector

If you really don't know don't buy something very expensive as you could be fooled easily.

Depends on what you want. Not a fan of RCs myself as they tend to be tossed together... neat history but not worth the money IMHO. I like the Yugos because they are properly rebuilt and shoot very well. You'd be hard-pressed to find one with a rotten barrel as imported. The Czechs and Yugoslavians were familiar with a Mauser and used the design as a primary arm. Russians not so much.

If you want an original German/Czech... be prepaired to do your homework. The market is packed with humped rifles. De-sporterized rifles are something to watch for. Some guys tend to pass them off as originals. A $200 sporter with a $200 stock doesn't constitute $1400+. As with most German militaria you must be vigilant.

Yugo $4-500
Israeli $5-600
Czech $6-800
RC $7-900
Norwegian $1000-1500
German $800-2500

Again, features of individual rifles may move a rifle up or down the scale. There are variants of each type (like a mint FN contract Israeli or a Norwegian that was built on a completely matching Kriegsmarine rifle) that will push a rifle right out of its category.

Hi

Where do Swedish Mauser fall in price range?

George

As far as collectibility goes, I personally prefer the RC's over the Yugo and Czech rebuilds. With the RC's they often have intact acceptance and original numbering on the parts, original barrels, and stocks with intact markings as well. They Yugo's and Czech are often sanitized to the point that most of the WW2 history is gone.

Discussions about historical value aside, my list is general EE prices for K98s that are essentially salvage jobs and parts bin specials. Some (like the Israelis) have been rebuilt or modified several times and some were new assembled completely out of factory seconds and leftovers.

Really, the list should have stopped at the Norwegians as they're the best examples of rifles rebuilt (or at least modified in some way) under a state armory program. Where it's pretty rare to find a numbers matching k98 in ANY condition, matching VG/Excellent condition examples are pretty much the norm for an M96 or M38.

Swedes are a completely different kettle of fish my friend, an entirely different discussion. Same with M48s, South American contract rifles, etc.

Hello
Thanks for the reply. I was just curious when I saw the list I thought that with all those listed maybe the swedes were overlooked. I am trying to put together a reference list of my own for future price reference.
