Hi,i got mauser bcd 1944,Now does anyone know the reason for the "Crown over N" proof mark n the barrel?

In most cases though, the Firing Proof on pre-1945 K98's are the Nazi Eagle with the
Swastika (and also, yours being bcd is WaA749 for the WaffenAmt) stamped either on the Barrel or Receiver. Are yours intact or peened? Not all East German Nazi markings were peened.
If peened or defaced, done postwar.
