I have fired the Yugo M48BO and its a charm.

I bought my M48BO from Marstar 2 years, and 300ish rounds ago. I like it alot - probably the closest I'll ever come to a minty k98 type rifle. Even has the cup butt plate/head buster =) The wood is nicely grained, and the fit and finish is excellent.

The VZ24 (Czechoslovakia), IDF in 7.62x51, FR8/FR7 in 7.62x51 are my next favorites.

Mauser rifles came in lots of different calibers, all of them "authentic" =D

How about this as a compromise? German k98, re barreled to 30-06 in Norway. k98 coolness, readily available cartridge, interesting historical side-note. $750 from p&s militaria, I beleive they have two atm.

I'd go for this. I have one and it is the most accurate rife I own. Sight regulation is bang on too.
