German engineering and quality. Nice to see that they are still doing well and producing superb rifles. Also love the traditional brass fanfare hunting call. Europeans know how to do it right.

A practical switch barrel system’s time has come, and that rifle is much more appealing than the old Mauser 66 and more conventional in appearance than the Blaser system. The idea that the rifle cocks independently of manipulating the bolt handle is interesting, and gets away from the problem of having to overcome the firing pin spring weight when an hot load induced stiff bolt lift is experienced. I wonder though how easily the action is cocked or de-cocked once the rifle is dirty and exposed to the elements? Based on that video, I have two criticisms. First, there doesn't appear to be any latitude for moving the position of the scope forward. Secondly, seeing that trigger move rearward when the safety/de-cocker is engaged gives me the willies, just like the de-cocking lever on a DA auto pistol.

very intresting. sounds like a very versatile concept. if its ruged and relibale i might put it on my list for a new hunting rifle. mind you its probly $$$$

well never mind
the magazinge is 200+
guns start od 5000+
barrels 2500+
bolt heads are 200+

thats just a quick look on the net.

I agree that in the classic vein, the M98 is more desirable. However, just this morning I found myself studying Nosler No.6 reloading manual which left me a desire to own rifles in at least 6 different chamberings...from 6.5x55 to 9.3x74R!!! One practical way to make this happen is to get something like the M03 with barrel changeability.

I have seen them priced recently at under $3k for the rifle (used that is).

M03

Very well done video.Like the ending which reminds me of "Band of Brothers" for some reason. Quality is impressive especially the stock. Interchangable barrels, boltheads etc leave me a bit cold.

You could just buy Husqvarna rifles chambered in 6.5x55, 7x57, 8x57, 9.3x62 :) And probably be less than $3K.

Anybody know who is the Canadian dealer for Mauser?

Wolverine has what I believe is a used one, in .270 with a scope, listed in April's Access for a nickel short of $3K. I imagine John could provide you with a new one if you wanted it.

VO Vapen uses Zoli made 1900 actions and Zoli just introduced a de-cocking device for their AZ1900.

Mauser jagdwaffen, Swiss Arms, Sig Sauer, Sauer & Sons, Blaser and Hämmerli are all part of the same group. Blaser, Mauser and Sig Sauer tend to share the switch barrel and fancy mechanisms at high prices.

I love the Mauser M03 but it isn't a lightweight. Everyone that I have held has had exceptional walnut, but the stock alone is usually dense enough to weigh 50oz or more. 8lbs+ for any of them.
